Kay Soul is an American singer-songwriter and recording artist. Kay Soul's music has a distinct sound that appeals to listeners of many backgrounds since it perfectly combines parts of vintage R&B with a contemporary twist. Her artistic aptitude is demonstrated by her ability to take unadulterated emotions and turn them into enthralling tunes. She takes listeners on a journey with each song, making a profound connection and leaving a lasting impression.

 

Kay Soul was raised on the southside of Chicago by her grandparents. She began writing music in middle school.  She sang in the choir and played in the marching band. Kay’s musical influences range from Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, and Lauryn Hill to the new jack swing era of the 90s and the neo-soul era of the early 2000s. Kay Soul’s passion for music was born in the church listening to the choir sing on Sunday mornings.  

 

Kay Soul has been recognized for her artistry on multiple platforms. She was awarded 2023 Best Gospel song/performance at the Ambitions Entertainment Awards and named Entertainer of the Year at the 2022 Full Figured Industry Awards. Kay Soul's previous EP, Connections, released in 2022, was met with critical acclaim, and lauded as "passionate and chilling" by Buzz Music (September 2022). Regarding the track “Reconnection” blog Music’s Metaphor stated, “Her honey-sweet vocals and heartfelt lyrics soothes and calms the souls of anyone who has experienced tough, long nights with anxiety and depression” (October 2022). ArtistRack raved, “The songs on the EP are fun and entertaining, but also conscious and empowering, bridging the gaps between mass appeal and elevated song form in a very natural way” (August 2022).

 

Notable performances include, Kat’s Café Atlanta, Elbo Room Chicago, Sweet Auburn Music Festival, Festival of the Carolinas, Silver Room Block Party, Rhythm of Gospel Awards (Jacksonville, FL,) Prayze Factor Awards, Spin Awards, and Full Figured Fashion Week (New York). Kay Soul has sung the National Anthem at an NBA game, and she was the featured musical guest for Atlanta Live which aired on WATC-TV 57.

 

Kay Soul has expanded her brand into modeling and acting.  She has modeled for national plus size brands Avenue and Lane Bryant, and she was the cover model for Just Me Magazine, The Rhythmic Lounge Magazine, and GMX Magazine. As an aspiring actress, Kay Soul has been on several major network television series including Kingdom Business, All the Queen’s Men, Chicago PD, Chicago Med, Paper Girls, Empire, The Chi, and the Disney holiday movie “Christmas Again.”

 

Kay Soul has always been vocal about her intention of connecting to her fans through music. Her songs show a vulnerable and spiritual side of the artist. Her expressive lyrics, deep melodies, and enticing vocals create a magical and captivating ambiance for the listeners.
